Content Warning: This episode talks about self-harm, the reader’s discretion is advised.

The deaths at Alpine Manor started as a game. At first, the killers planned to choose their victims alphabetically, with their initials spelling MURDER as a private joke on the police.

The modus operandi of Gwendolyn Gail Graham and Catherine May Wood

Nursing homes are supposed to be a haven for the residents under their care. Family members of the residents trust the nurses and aides employed by the management to care for and comfort them in their times of need. The very thought of a caretaker abusing or worse, physically harming their residents is a horrifying one.

Fans of the American Horror Story franchise will know that the series has a knack for turning our greatest fears into an episode on screen. One of my favorite on-screen villains in the franchise comes from season 6, Roanoke. In episode 2, a pair of twisted nurses, Miranda and Bridget Jane attempted to spell the word murder by killing victims with the corresponding initials in their names. But as frightening as the actresses were on screen, they pale in comparison to what their real-life counterparts did.

In the dead of the night when all seems quiet and you think you’re safe that’s when evil comes out to play.
